frequently asked questions

Plan for Your Tan – A great spray tan is as much about your preparation as it is about my application so plan ahead, When do you need to be looking your best? It’s recommended to be tanned two days prior to the occasion so if the big day is Saturday then ideally it’s best to be tanned on Thursday.

Timing – once again it can be tricky and most bosses can not appreciate that it is “all about the tan!” That is why I offer an after hours service till 9pm. With the new Flash 2 hour wash and Go tan by techno tan it does allow for greater flexibility.

Exfoliate Exfoliate Exfoliate – once you decide you’re having a tan start exfoliating every second day to remove any dead skin cell remember to pay particular attention to your knees, feet, around your ankles, elbows and neck line. It’s also a good idea to keep the moisturiser up to your skin in the days leading up to your tan (but not on the day of your tan) and remember to keep yourself well hydrated by drinking plenty of water each day.

The Day of Your Tan– If possible shower prior too and arrive at your appointment without any make-up, perfume, moisturiser or deodorant on. Ensure you bring something LOOSE and DARK to wear home after your tan.  All waxing is to be done 24 hours prior to your tan. Shaving on the day is fine but if you have sensitive skin shave the day before.

Getting Tanned – The process itself take about 10minutes. What you wear whilst being tanned is an individual thing, most people wear a G-String or swim suit, but you are perfectly welcome to have your tan wearing what you feel most comfortable in or go naked as many do.

Immediately After Your Tan – Don’t risk it, it’s important to do little and keep cool and dry while the tan is developing, this usually takes between 6 to 8 hours for the original solution or 2 hours for the Flash Tan. There is no point spending money on a tan if you’re planning on going to work or heading off shopping. You will run the risk of rubbing your tan causing it to go patchy. I recommend getting tanned later in the afternoon / evening.

Post Tan Care – once your tan has developed (6 to 8 hours) Hop under a shower and allow the water to run over you. You will notice some colour wash off, don’t be alarmed this is natural, once the water runs clear use your complimentary tub of Techno Tan Sodium Laurel Sulfate Free Body Wash. Pour a small amount into your hand and GENTLY rub over your entire body. Rinse off and remember to pat dry with your towel. Once dry apply moisturizer.

Maintaining Your Tan – MOISTURISE MOISTURISE MOISTURISE twice a day! Although you can’t stop your body’s natural exfoliating process you can slow it down by using a good quality moisturiser such as Techno Tan Body Butter or Body Butter with Shimmer and keep your self well hydrated by drinking plenty of water each day.

Extending Your Tan –Please remember that a spray on tan is designed for you to look great on a particular day for a particular occasion…And the bonus is you get an additional 5 to 10 days of looking good! It is not permanent and many things can affect the life of your tan.
Your body is constantly shedding dead skin cells. A spray on tan only effects the outer layers of skin, so as your skin cell are naturally shed, the spray tan will fade. Your tan should last 5 to 10 days depending on your skin type and how well you look after your tan. However, I cannot offer a guarantee as everyone is different.

Tan Killers - Avoid long hot showers, baths, spa baths and heavily chlorinated pools. This will cause your skin to dry out and fade your tan faster. Avoid any activity that will cause excessive sweating
